Proven Effective takes its name from the frequent use of this term in pharmaceutical promotions, creating false expectations of the efficacy of their medications. It also acknowledges the proven effectiveness of the techniques of persuasion used in pharmaceutical company marketing campaigns.
Proven Effective has created this site in order to educate health care professionals about techniques of persuasion used by the pharmaceutical industry to influence their practice and the extent of that influence.
You can gain access to our wealth of resources on direct to consumer advertising; direct marketing to providers; and industry sponsored research and education geared for learners and teachers. The modules include documentary videos, slide shows, instructive games, and other tools along with instructions for their use. These tools have been successfully used in student and resident curriculum and at workshops at physician, nurse and pharmacist professional meetings. Now they are available for your use.
The creation of Proven Effective’s materials were made possible by a grant from the state Attorney General Consumer and Prescriber Education Grant Program which is funded by the multistate settlement of consumer fraud claims regarding the marketing of the prescription drug Neurontin.
